Together with Jan S. Möllers and Verena Ries, I am a co-author of RISE, an innovative and intuitive practice of creating personal rituals. During years of facilitating workshops on ritual design, we have developed a unique method rooted in grief counseling and cultural anthropology, which offers a simple and efficient way to approach the meaning and impact of rites of passage. In 2024, we published the RISE Ritual Design Toolkit and celebrated its premiere at the fair LEBEN UND TOD in Bremen/Germany.
RISE is a practical, flexible kit that enables people to develop bespoke rituals and carry them out individually or collectively. It includes instructional methodologies, stories and suggestions for creativity as well as ideas for reflection that can be consciously applied in any ritual design process.
We present our concept as an easy to use, attractive and accessible A4 folder pack containing supporting texts and a variety of practical, reusable working materials.
With the help of the RISE Toolkit, ideas can be collected, organised and reflected upon before being developed into a practical ritual.
The RISE Ritual Design Toolkit is available in English at Kultur:Trauer e.V., in Polish at Instytut Dobrej Śmierci, and in German at FacettenReich.
